The Fondo de Ahorro de Panamá Publishes its Preliminary (Unaudited) First Quarter 2026 Results

The Fondo de Ahorro de Panamá (“FAP” or “Fund”) has published its portfolio performance report for the first quarter 2026 (“1Q2026”), available only in Spanish.
Summary:
As of the end of the first quarter of 2026, the Panama Sovereign Wealth Fund (“FAP”) reported total assets of B/. 3,187.4 million and preliminary net assets of B/. 3,084.6 million, maintaining its role as Panama’s sovereign savings and fiscal stabilization fund. During the period, international financial markets experienced heightened volatility driven by geopolitical tensions, rising oil prices, and increasing inflationary pressures, resulting in mixed performance across major global markets.
Against this backdrop, the Fund recorded an approximate gross cumulative gain of B/. 3.7 million, equivalent to a gross year-to-date return of 0.22%, outperforming its benchmark by 50 basis points. Likewise, over the twelve months ended March 2026, the FAP achieved a return of 8.27%, representing an excess return of 217 basis points over its reference index. The Fund’s investment strategy remained focused on capital preservation, diversification, and prudent risk management, with an emphasis on developed markets and high credit quality assets.

About the Fondo de Ahorro de Panama
The Fund was created under Law 38 of June 5, 2012, with the following primary objectives:
To establish a long-term savings mechanism for the Panamanian State; and
To establish a stabilization mechanism for states of emergency (declared by the Cabinet Council) and periods of economic slowdown.
